Foundations of Yoga Practice

This is a two part series 4 weekly classes at the

San Marcos Public Library

Half day retreat at the Dharma Ranch

PART ONE: EDUCATIONAL FOCUS

We are all affected in some way by the many stressors unique to the modern world.  Be it the demands of unhealthy work environments and hectic daily schedules; isolation brought on by the pandemic; lack of energy or motivation to exercise; and/or dependency on "fast foods".

This Fall, in four weekly sessions, Yoga and Health will present the keys to creating a life of deep joy and radiant heath found in The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali.

Each week, we will spend some time exploring the theoretical foundations of yoga practice. And then, we will delve into the practice of yoga asana, pranayama, contemplation and meditation as a process of discovering our inner terrain. Practices will be done either standing or seated in a chair. Everyone from a mature 8 year old to mature adults are welcome. This is an educational offering, not a therapeutic service.

Week 2: Introduction to Yoga Asana
Week 3: Introduction to Pranayama
Week 4: Introduction to Meditation

“The Warrior Heart Practice is an inner journey toward inner healing and peace, through feeling, story, truth, and intent – The Four Chambers of the Warrior Heart. This book is a reflection of a warrior putting into practice all that she has learned, the moment when knowledge turns into wisdom, in order to heal a heart that is not afraid to love.” – Don Miguel Ruiz, Jr.

Three things cannot long be hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth. – Buddha

“Learning how to work with the four chambers of the warrior heart will change the way you operate in the world by helping you release limiting and painful beliefs and to re-arrange the pieces of your personal puzzle into an integrated NEW WHOLE – mentally, emotionally and physically.” – HeatherAsh Amara, author of The Warrior Heart Practice
